Wildlife photography of a Snowy Egret crossing a sand beach in Belize

A juvenile snowy egret struts with attitude in the warm sands of Belize. A common Winter visitor to Belize, the Snowy Egret has the most diverse arsenal of foraging techniques of any wader. Unlike other herons and egrets, the snowy will actively pursue prey instead of waiting patiently, using their yellow feet to stir the muddy bottom and flush out prey. When mature and during the breeding season, the snowy’s legs will be solid black and the feet a very bright yellow.
