On a bright, crisp Winter day as sub-zero temperatures and deep snow settle into the Upper Lamar Valley of Yellowstone National Park, a bull bison conserves much needed energy reserves by traveling in the shallow, thermally fed, Soda Butte Creek rather than struggling through the endless deep snow that blankets Yellowstone in Winter.
