Wildlife photography of an African Jacana walking on water lilies

The African Jacana is also known as the Jesus bird as it appears to walk on water.  The Jacana’s oversized feet are adapted to walk on the buoyant lily leaves as they search for insects.  The stigmatic cup within the lily’s bloom, is filled with a sweet and sticky liquid that attract a variety of insects, especially beetles, which the Jacanas find irresistible.
