Squeeze Play by Cindy Goeddel
Wildlife photography of eggs squirting from a female Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout as she is eaten by a Northern River Otter during the spawn
A Northern River Otter delights in a messy meal of a beautifully colored female Yellowstone Native Cutthroat Trout during the summer spawn. Otters are graceful in water and quick on land, making them adorable yet highly effective predators. During their spawn, Cutthroat Trout provide food for many animals including bears and osprey. And no part of the fish are wasted, with young otters often cleaning up any scraps and eggs left from the feast.
